1. What is a cookie?

Cookies are any type of data storage and recovery device that are installed on the user’s terminal equipment in order to store information and retrieve the information already stored in order to make navigation easier, allowing, for example, the access to users who have previously registered and access to areas, services, promotions or contests reserved exclusively for them without having to register for each visit. They can also be used to measure audience, traffic and navigation parameters, session time, and/or monitor progress and the number of entries.


2. What type of cookies do we use?

The type of cookies that are used are the ones detailed below:


a) According to the entity that manages them:

Own Cookies: they are sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a computer or domain managed by the editor itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided.

Third-party Cookies:
they are sent to the user’s terminal equipment from a computer or domain that is not managed by the publisher, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through cookies.


b) According to its purpose:

Strictly Necessary or Technical Cookies: they allow the navigation through the website and the use of different options or services that are in it. For example, controlling traffic and data communication, identifying a session, accessing websites with restricted access, performing the purchase process of an order, submitting a request to subscribe or join an event, using security items while browsing and storing content while accessing video or sound.


Personalization Cookies: they allow the user to access the service based in predetermined features configured in the terminal or defined by the user. For example, language, web browser, the shape of selected contents, device geolocation and settings based on the region from where you access the service.


Analytical Cookies: they allow the monitoring and analysis of user behavior on websites. The information collected by this type of cookie is used to measure the activity of websites, applications or platforms and to compile user navigation profiles, in order to introduce service improvements based on usage data.


Advertising Cookies: allow the effective management of advertising spaces included in websites from which the service is provided. They allow advertising content to be adjusted in a way that it’s relevant to the user and also to avoid users from seeing repeated ads.


Behavioral advertising: allow the management, in the most efficient way possible, of the advertising spaces that, where appropriate, the editor has included in a website, application or platform from which it provides the requested service. These cookies store information on user behavior obtained through the continuous observation of their browsing habits, which allows developing a specific profile and display advertising based on it.


Cookies from external social networks: they are used so that users can interact with the content from different social platforms (for example, Facebook), and they are used by those third parties for behavioral advertising, analysis, monitoring, market research and other purposes described in their terms of use.


c) According to the period of time they remain active:

Session Cookies: they are designed to collect and store data while the user is accessing the website. They are commonly used to store information that is only meant to be kept on a single occasion to provide the service requested by the user (for example, a list of purchased products), and get deleted when the session is closed.


Persistent Cookies: they collect data stored in the terminal and are accessed and processed during a defined time period established by the owner of the cookie, which may vary from minutes to years.
